What to Do if Fossil Watch Stops Working

Buying a watch is a big deal. Therefore before embarking through our How to set up your Fossil Watch guide first take some time to congratulate yourself for taking this big step.

Now we also suggest you take some time to admire the new Fossil watch you've just purchased. Good choice. We do of course understand you don't want to just admire your new Fossil watch you want to use it too. This guide will help you set up your watch whether you chose from the Fossil men's range or the Fossil ladies' collection.

If you are a first‐time Fossil watch owner then we suggest for you to work your way down through our How to set up your Fossil Watch guide. If you are a veteran then please feel free to skip ahead to the section you need. In this guide we will cover:

  • How to adjust the time on your Fossil watch
  • How to change the date on your Fossil watch
  • How to change your Fossil watch strap
  • How to clean your Fossil watch leather strap
  • How to remove links from a Fossil watch

Let us begin.

Fossi Watch Dial

Setting the time of your new watch is an obvious place to start and with a Fossil watch it is no different. Setting the time of your Fossil watch will be a little different if you have a date feature on your watch dial. Skip ahead to the "How to change the date on your Fossil watch" section if you have a date function.

If you wish to simply change the time of your Fossil watch then follow these three easy steps:

  1. Pull the crown (the small knob on the side of the watch head) out from the side of the watch.
  2. Turn the crown to adjust the hour and minute hands.
  3. Push the crown back to the watch head.

And that's it you're ready to rock and roll.

Important: Please ensure the crown is clicked back into the watch head or your Fossil watch won't work.

If you wish to set the date and time of your new Fossil watch then there are two different positions that the crown will be in. Let us tell you how to change the date first. Don't worry it's really simple.

  1. Pull the crown out once from the watch head (fully will change the time).
  2. Turn the crown either clockwise or counter-clockwise and set the date for the previous day. The direction that moves the date is different for each Fossil watch model so take your time.
  3. Once you've set the date for the previous day, trust us, you can move onto changing the time.

  4. Pull crown out fully from the watch head.
  5. Turn the crown counter-clockwise to advance the time and continue until the day changes to the present day.
  6. Set to the correct time for today.
  7. Push the crown back in fully.

REMEMBER: The crown must be pushed back in fully for your Fossil watch to work properly.

Fossil Watch Strap

The wonderful thing about Fossil watches is the level of customization they offer. Each Fossil watch has an interchangeable strap meaning you can change up your look with stylish ease.

Taking care of your Fossil watch is an important element of ensuring you get the most out of your timepiece. Leather doesn't like water so make sure you don't swim or shower with your leather strapped Fossil watch. If you do need to clean your leather strap we suggest a clean, soft, dry cloth. And it's as simple as that. No fancy oils or treatments required.

Fossil Leather Strap and Buckle

We suggest to further ensure the upkeep of your leather Fossil strap that you keep it out of direct sunlight. By this we mean don't leave it on a window sill or dresser in the sun. We aren't for a second suggesting your watch should be an indoor‐only watch, that would be weird, just no prolonged sitting in the sun for your Fossil watch.

If you wish to keep the metal strap on your Fossil watch the same but it's in need of a little resizing you can follow the steps below to help you remove links from it.

IMPORTANT: Please note as per our Returns and Refunds Policy if you customize your Fossil watch strap you cannot return your watch as unwanted goods. If in doubt please Contact Us.

Before you set out to remove links from your Fossil watch you will need the right tools. The following can be purchased online easily, sometimes as a pack and sometimes as individual elements. They aren't expensive and are priceless to do this job correctly so we do suggest strongly that you get them.

You will need a:

  • Watch band block holder
  • Pin Punch for watch pins
  • Watch Hammer ‐ one with a head with a soft side and a metal side

We suggest you undertake this task on a flat surface and have somewhere secure to put your watch pins while you are adjusting the links.

  1. First, measure your Fossil watch to see how many links you would like to remove. This can be done by putting the watch on your wrist, closing the clasp, and then pinching the watch strap until it is a comfortable fit. Count the links that are extra, and you will know how many you need to remove.
  2. Set up the watch on the block holder. Ensure the arrows shown on the links are pointing down.
  3. When removing links, hold one end of the pin pusher against the pin to be removed. Strike the other end of the pin pusher with the metal side of the watch hammer until the pin slides out. It will slide out in the direction of the arrow on the links. Two pins hold each link to the band, so two pins must be removed per link.
  4. To reconnect the watch strap together position the watch on the block holder with the arrows now facing upward.
  5. Overlap two links so that the holes for each of them are connected. Insert a pin into each of the lined‐up holes to connect the whole watchband back together. Use the soft side of the hammer to strike the pin down into the link.
  6. Make sure that all the pins joining the links are secured back in place.
Put your Fossil watch back on your wrist and enjoy.
